Life as a reseacher - Day 1

Late on day 1! Was supposed to reach by 9 and was 10 mins late. It was a mad rush from canteen A since we decide that bus C will take forever to come. Arrived all sweaty but luckily not smelly. Met my mentor, mark and we began synthesizing molecule. He was nice and all, helping and guiding me along the way, not hesitating to answer my questions. But I still fear him maybe because I dun understand him at times and I can't hear what he says sometimes. So anyway, research lab is definitely more independent, in the sense that we draw our own chemicals, take our own apparatus and you are on your own. One thing I realize is that researchers can be loners. Because you are only responsible for your own project, you dun interact with others (though working side by side) and since reaction timings are different, you may not be able to have lunch with others. Well anyway, reaction I did today was relatively simple. But then, I'm facing a crisis cause the yield is too little! all because my first extraction was not done properly.
