Day 2

Its only day 2 and I worked till 8.30 pm! another 30 mins to 12 hours. First thing I saw on my desk was nmr for yesterday's sample. Hmm... looks good (though I dun really know how to read it) Retrieved my samples and then went down to do IR analysis. In the end, IR showed that only sample 2 was usable but the yield is pathetic! Only 12%. In the end, I have to redo the reaction!! Decided to move over to the next lab today as its more spacious. It was more or less on my own today since I've done it yesterday. Began setting up. It was really tiring moving in and out from one lab to another since the 2nd lab still does not have everything needed. Opening and closing the door a lot of times..real tiring. Though I've done it only ytd, I've forgotten little details here and there =( Luckily CJ was working beside me and he guided me here and there. Worst experience for the day was doing TLC! I think I almost did 7-8 tests before I finally got the spot and and saw my reaction spot! I almost thought my reaction was a gone case. Phew. . wasted a lot of time here! Everything was smooth after that all thanks to Pat who helped me with the extraction since the forgetful me forgot some of the steps. >.< Arh! I hope this time my yield would be much more and its the compound I want!
