After being in the education system for thus long and came across so many different teachers, there are several types of teachers whom I seriously dislike.
1) Those who do not even have the passion to teach and do not even have the appropriate knowledge. Its either they have a bond with MOE to fulfill or MOE's pay is just too attractive for them.
2) Those who do not have the passion to teach but at least have the answers to your questions. However students will normally not ask them anything because we can almost predict a sulky face will be coming up.
3) Teachers who can't teach and have retired yet still come out to teach due to shortage of teachers. Ok, I will not deny that they have the knowledge and experience after all that years. However, retired carries with it a certain age and humans performance do drop after a certain age. Have you come across lecturers who can spend whole 15 mins on 1 slide? Or lecturers who just read off from the slides without any quality explanation? Finished one who lecture but student learn absolutely nothing in the end?
I seriously think people who want to be teachers must first understand themselves, know if they have the capability for the job. Not just for the salary and 'iron rice bowl' but the passion as well. Its important to have teachers. Its even more important to have quality teachers to educate and nurture the young ones.
